Better Than a Good Day

February 22, 2010 – 6:49 pm

By the end of many days I can easily say that the day was good.  Last Friday was a little different because it was better than good… I look back on last Friday and smile.  Here’s why…

My mom and I headed into town bright and early to meet up with my fiance’s mother (Sheri) and a friend of hers who helps with weddings (www.reale-events.com).  We walked into the home of Sheri’s friend and she asked, “what’s on your dream list honey?” She was asking me what it was that I needed in regards to decorations for my wedding.  I’m engaged by the way!  I proceeded to tell her what my needs were and to my extreme joy she had pretty much everything I needed!  What a blessing!

After our time with Sheri and her friend, my mom and I headed to a wedding shop in Loveland (Wed Wisely) to get my dress altered.  A friend of ours owns the shop and it’s quite lovely.  We spent a good deal of time there talking with the owner/friend and oh how I loved putting my dress on for the 3rd time ever!  It’s so beautiful!

We (my mom and I) then ate delicious gyros made from Tereza’s in downtown Loveland and my goodness they were good.  It was fun talking with the woman who worked there while our gyros were being made.  Such friendliness!

We then went to Hobby Lobby where we “bumped into” three different people we know.  One of them a very dear friend of ours who we ended up praying with in the store.  Hobby Lobby was having amazing sales and I could have spent the entire day in there! :)

I dropped my mom off at work, went to showtime video where the man behind the counter was talkative and telling me his highest recommendation of a movie which was nice.  Then I went to the Loveland Coffee Shop where the gal working was so very nice and talkative as well, asking me what my weekend plans were.

I went to a couple of Antique shops after the coffee shop and found some wonderful gifts for my dear friend Hannah and then headed home where I got to spend the evening with my amazing fiance’ Joel!

I write all that because as I thought through the day and all the people I (and my mom) got to talk to throughout the day I realized how much I loved being able to communicate with people I didn’t even know!  It felt like a small town in the good ole’ days.

There are so many opportunities to minister to people… to shine the light of Jesus and walk in love!  A smile or simple question can brighten someones day.

So… I encourage you to smile and treat people as you want to be treated… with love and care.

Blessings!

It was fun seeing you at Wed Wisely! ;) Loveland does seem like a small town sometimes — like maybe half the population is from Rez…. :D
Your smile always shines for Jesus! Thank you for using it all the time!
