The Proposal

February 22, 2010 – 7:14 pm

Many have already hear how Joel propsed but for those of you who have not, I want to share with you the wonderful proposal!

Sunday, December 13th we went to church together. After church I put on a dress and he was in his suit and we headed to Denver to go to The Nutcracker Ballet by the Colorado Ballet. While in his truck he gave me mittens and a hat from Urban Outfitters for later… two of my favorite colors to wear - purple and mustard! :)

We were doing good on time but then we had to wait in line for a parking ticket for what seemed like forever so we ended up running about five blocks… all the while I wore my red heels. Ha! The Nutcracker was delightful!

After that we walked to The Broker restaurant a few blocks over. It’s a cool restaurant which used to be a bank and we ate in the vault part of it… real cozy and had our own little booth. We had shrimp (which I enjoyed this time and haven’t had in years because the last time I ate it I didn’t realize you had to take the shell off and it was terrible… that was a good ten years ago I think). I enjoyed a salad, bread and for the main course - The Wellington… beef tips in a crispy pastry. Yum!

We had to be upstairs at 6pm. At 6pm a horse and buggy pulled up to greet us. We go tin it and started a joyous ride… I of course, got to use my mittens and hat at that point. The carriage ride ended in front of city and county buildings which were all lit up with Christmas lights! There was a nativity scene and in front of it there was a basket full of 24 white gerber daisies and a ribbon around it that said “for my love”. I didn’t see it so he pointed it out and said, “who could that be for?” That’s when I thought “could he really be proposing??”

Up to this point I was clueless!!!! I had convinced myself that he was gonna propose after Christmas! Ha!! He totally and completely surprised me!!!!!! Before I knew it he was down on one knee and said, “Kaitlyn I love you and I don’t ever want to live without you. Will you marry me???” I said, “Now?? Really?? YES!” Hooray!!! We then gave a smooch and guess what? It started to snow!!! I thought someone was throwing snow at us because of the timing and perfection of it! WOW!!!!

Soon after our kiss a limo pulled up and drove us back to my home where my mom and dad were waiting. In the limo Joel led us in communion and gave me a calendar and notepad to begin the planning… although I’ve been planning my wedding for years now as many of you know. :)

We talked with both my parents and his for a while and then went out and watched some of the meteor shower!! That was a kiss from heaven. We saw about 20 shooting stars in ten minutes!! I LOVE shooting stars!!!!

So, thank you all for reading and for your encouragement and prayers! I am truly happy and have no doubt in my mind that Joel and I were meant to be together, forever! God is always faithful… this I know!!!
